Healdsburg Living
 Healdsburg was once home to the Pomo Indians, who lived peacefully among the fertile landscapes surrounding the Russian River. This quiet lifestyle changed radically during the California Gold Rush, which brought new excitement and new explorers to the area. In 1857, a man by the name of Harmon Heald led the early development of the town through the establishment of a store and postal station. By the early 1870s, Healdsburg had been incorporated and had grown sufficiently to warrant its own stop on the Northwestern Pacific Railroad.

Located in the nationally registered Healdsburg Carnegie Library Building, the museum is both an historic landmark and a wonderful local resource. The permanent collection includes lifestyle objects and artifacts dating back to the Pomo Indians. The museum also puts on an annual winter toy exhibit that is popular with local children and their families. Healdsburg is an ideal community for active individuals and families. Serene countryside roads provide miles of scenery to explore by foot, car or bicycle. Tour operators offer hot air balloon rides and the Russian River affords opportunities for swimming and kayaking. Other nearby destinations include the Pacific Ocean coastline, San Francisco, or the Napa Valley. |
